As a parent, you’re always going to be entitled to raise your children in the way that you see most fit. But it can often be hard to work out what that looks like. And while this post isn’t really going to be about parenting (and it’s certainly not going to tell you how to parent your children), it is all about fun. Because no matter what you believe and how you wish to parent your children, it’s safe to say that we all want to enjoy a little fun in our lives. Now, fun is subjective and we can definitely choose what that looks like. But if you are open to a little more fun in your life, you may find that the below prompts really help you. Let’s take a look at how you could have a little more fun with your kids.

Be Open Minded
To start with, it’s important for you to try and adopt a positive, open mind. When you’re very set in your ways and working with a fixed mindset, it can be hard to be open to new things and even to see the fun in everyday life. Likewise, you could openly choose to let your children lead more and follow their advances on what fun looks like to them. Trying to see things in a new way could make your life together more joyful.
Get Creative
Next, you might want to think about ways that you can all be that bit more creative. It could be with paints and arts or maybe crafts and singing. Creativity can come in so many different forms and much of it is about letting go an having fun as it is about actually creating something together.
Play More Games
Games are often a source of fun and pleasure. So a simple way to have more fun would be to bring more games into your lives. It could be that you want to try things like Cinco de Mayo Trivia or board games. Maybe it’s cards or even make-believe games. It’s all about trying out new things and seeing what your family finds fun.
Role Play
Then we have role play. This is something that can be great for your kids’ creativity and imagination, as well as fun. You can dress up at home or just role-play when you’re out and about. Being in a made-up world can be stress-relieving for you both.
Get Outside
Finally, you may find that getting outside more can help. Sometimes, you can exhaust your options when you choose to stay inside all of the time. Plus, your children may need to run off their energy. So why not plan more outdoor activities? This could be as simple as going for a woodland walk or searching for mystical creatures in the forest. Or it might be that you want to take up a sport or activity together – whatever feels most fun to you.
