4 Easy Father’s Day Crafts with step-by-step directions and photo examples
We are moms, friends, and work colleges. Between the two of us, we have 5 kids. Nicole has 2 young children – ages 8 and 10, and Karissa has 3 young children – ages 4, 6 and 9. Every year these sweet darlings give us Mother’s Day gifts that they put a lot of time, creativity and effort into making at school. And as parents, you know that these gifts are truly treasures to keep forever!
But unfortunately, Father’s Day doesn’t receive the same treatment since it always falls in the summertime after school let’s out. So, since your child’s teacher is not here to save the day, we decided to share a few simple – yet personal and fun crafts that you can do with your little (or big) ones! Now they can give their Dads the same treasured crafts that you have the honor of receiving each year.

Father’s Day Crafts
Below are 4 of our favorite Father’s Day Crafts that can be adapted for any age! They are easy enough that your kiddo can do most of the work themselves – with just a little supervision from you 😉 You can keep it simple for little children, while your older kids can get VERY creative and really showcase their art skills! Also, all of these supplies you probably already have on hand, or can easily purchase at your local craft store for just a few dollars.
“Dad” Plaque
Nicole and her children made this Father’s Day Craft.
Supplies:
- 3 wooden letters (D, A, D)
- Pre-made chalkboard sign
- Paints (not water color but anything else works)
- Hot glue gun
Directions:
- Have your child paint the letters however they want.
- Once the letters have dried, simply grab the glue gun (Mom, this is where you need to help!!) and glue the letters to the chalkboard.
- VIOLA! Perfect for Dad to hang up as a reminder of how much his kids love him!
“Dad” Framed Photos
Karissa and her children made this Father’s Day Craft.
Another option you can do with these wooden letters, is photograph your children holding them. I have 3 kids so it worked out perfect – they each held one letter. Pick a simple background (I used the garage door), photograph, print and frame. You could even do this first with the letters, and then turn them into a “Dad” Plaque!
Flower Pot Desk Organizer
Nicole and her kids made this Father’s Day Craft.
Supplies:
- 3 clay flower pots (various sizes. We used 2 small and 1 larger)
- 1 heart shaped wooden accent piece (large enough for all 3 flower pots)
- Paints (not water color but anything else works)
- Hot glue gun
Directions:
- Have your child paint the flower pots and wooden accent piece.
- Once paint is dry, grab the glue gun (Mom will need to help here!!).
- Arrange the flower pots as desired on heart accent piece and glue.
- TA DA! The perfect desk accessory for Dad– useful and a loving reminder!
T-Shirt Artwork for Dad
Karissa and her kids made this Father’s Day Craft.
Receiving a beautiful picture that your little one created is really special, especially if you can display it for a long time! But why not consider creating a little artwork that Dad can actually wear?!
One year for Father’s Day I bought a few inexpensive shirts in solid colors. I bought a few packs of special markers from the craft store that can be used on clothing. And I taped off a rectangular area for my kids. They each dove in and had a lot of fun creating their masterpieces! By placing a hard book underneath, and taping the border, it helped to keep the shirt flat and the artwork in a consistent shape/pattern. Consider adding more tape through your rectangle in order to create unique designs.
Now, several years later, my kids still get so excited when they see Dad coming down the steps wearing one of their creations 🙂
