Helping Your Child Stay Healthy

We try our utmost to teach them the lessons of life. And we do our best to instill discipline, manners, and empathy within them; transforming them into decent human beings. Children trust us and turn to us for guidance and influence. Therefore it is crucial that we teach them how to be the best person humanly possible and look after their best interests. Health is the most important factor in life. Because, let’s face it, without our health we have absolutely nothing.

It is our responsibility to ensure our children get all the essential things they need at the start of their lives and throughout, to enable them to stay and grow into healthy and happy people. It is so crucial that early in life we adopt a healthy lifestyle. That our child’s body is treated with respect. And that when the time comes for them to fly the nest and make a family of their own, the same important principles are passed down to the next generation.

Life Can Cause Obstacles!

Now nobody said raising a family is easy! There can become times in life when obstacles obstruct our path and we can fall into scenarios when health takes a back seat. Unforeseen events such as a hectic work schedule that may involve a trip to the local fast-food restaurant. A determined child that will not eat their greens, and refuses to digest anything but junk food. Or kids that simply will not abandon their game consoles to get active outside and take in the fresh air. Yes, it can happen to the best of us! Sometimes in life we can find it extremely difficult to stick to maintaining that healthy lifestyle and we may worry that our children’s health is beginning on a downward spiral. Here are some essential tips on how you can help your child stay healthy, providing you with peace of mind that you are doing your best!

Get Active

Exercise is so important! Physical activity is crucial in ensuring children stay healthy. Introducing regular exercise on a daily basis will aid in keeping your child’s weight at a healthy level, and will prevent any nasty future health implications such as obesity, high blood pressure and bad cholesterol. Encouraging your kids to play outdoors also elevates Vitamin D levels. This results in strengthening your child’s bone mass. Designating at least up to 60 minutes a day of outdoor activity time will contribute enormously to your child’s health. Maybe try family-orientated activities such as bike rides, a brisk walk to the park, or a game of football over at the local pitch.

Kids also enjoy coming together and engaging in fun physical activities at the playground. Allowing your kids to explore all the equipment in the community playground, like a gaga ball pit, offers a handful of benefits physically, emotionally, and mentally. Social skills and imagination are also improved. These are all necessary to gain self-confidence, improve coordination, and advance critical thinking capabilities as they grow. Children should have at least an hour of physical activity daily, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended. There’s no perfect place to get this done than the local playground. Young ones who get into exercising and see it as an enjoyable experience will most likely remain active as they age.

Encourage Nutrition

Getting your children to eat more fruits and veggies can at times be a losing battle. But by introducing your children to a healthier diet, and encouraging them to eat nutritious food, is extremely beneficial to their health. A nutritious diet provides important vitamins, fibre and minerals that a child needs to ensure healthy growth and development. A healthy diet provides so many health benefits including boosting the immune system.

It also contributes to the normal functioning of the digestive system, and prevents contracting any serious health implications in the future. Crohn’s disease, for example, is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract. The exact cause of Crohn’s disease is unknown, but it is thought to be due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Treatment usually involves a crohn’s disease infusion and a combination of lifestyle changes. However, with the right diet and nutrition, this disease can be treated and maybe even prevented.

Add Supplements to Their Diet

As children grow it is so important that they get enough vitamins and minerals to support their health. Most children get inadequate amounts of nutrition from their balanced diet. So choosing to introduce supplements is a great way in ensuring they are getting the vital ingredients needed to maintain their well-being. The supplement specialists behind https://omvits.com/ have masses of supplements that can aid you in supporting your child’s health. As children develop it is imperative that they get adequate amounts of calcium and Vitamin D to promote strong bones. And supplements such as iron, zinc and particular vitamins are crucial for brain development.

Designate an Appropriate Bedtime

Sleep is incredibly critical in maintaining your child’s well-being. Making sure your children get the recommended rest, depending on their age and adhere to a designated bedtime will set them up for the following day. Getting enough sleep boosts their immune system enabling them to fight off any terrible illnesses or infections. Sleep is the ultimate tool our minds and bodies need to recover from the tiring events from the day before. And getting enough rest also contributes to emotional stability resulting in a much calmer, healthier mindset. After all, we all know what it feels like to be exhausted. It can have such a negative impact on our mood!

child health

Keep Them Hydrated

It is important to make sure your children are drinking enough water throughout the day. As a child’s brain is formed of 80% water. So staying hydrated is specifically crucial for your child’s cognitive development. Be sure that your children drink the recommended amount of water that corresponds to their age.

Yes, all that parents desire to do in their lifetime is to provide their children with the best they can in life that is humanly possible. It is every parent’s mission to bring their child into the world and raise them to be happy, respectful, and most importantly – healthy. Just be sure to take the points mentioned above to ensure you are doing your absolute best in looking after your child’s health.

The Magic of Christmas

Recently I was having a conversation with one of my relatives, who is also a father to a little toddler. We were talking about how his little girl will be able to really understand and enjoy Christmas this year. She will have fun diving into Christmas gifts, Santa, decorating, and the entire Holiday experience.

Our conversation than turned into discussing how having kids allows us to re-experience the best parts of our childhood through a new set of eyes. It’s like we are re-discovering the magic, the innocence, and the joy all over again….

How to Protect Yourself and Your Baby by Buying European Baby Formula

When the pandemic started, parents faced severe baby food insufficiency in the United States. Parents were afraid to stay without baby formula because their dearest babies could starve. So, they swept all the shelves in a row, causing an acute deficiency. American manufacturers couldn’t manage the sudden load, so only imported products could rescue American infants. Is it safe to buy baby formula from Europe? What are the pros and cons of such a purchase? What are the best European baby formulas? Continue reading below for answers to these questions.

For more on this topic, check out the full Baby’s First Year collection

Why Can It Be Risky to Buy European Baby Formula Online?

The Food and Drug Association controls all foods one can find in US stores. Imported products are not under FDA control, so nobody can prove their safety. Another risky issue is that nobody can assure you that the product was shipped at the right temperature and humidity.  Fortunately, one can find many articles about various European companies that produce baby food and guarantee fast delivery and proper shipping conditions. One can also ask pediatricians where to buy HiPP formula without risking it. Health advisors guide their patients and help them find alternatives when required.

Why Is the European Baby Formula so Popular Among American Consumers?

European food control commissions are strict, so they will never allow doubtful products to appear on shelves with baby food and feeding supplies, including bottles and teats. So, a product with a European Commission label is 100% safe and tested.

European companies do their best to adapt their products to a delicate organism of a baby. That is why they produce a variety of baby formulas that can:

  • be made of goats milk
  • be made of cows milk
  • fit babies with gastrointestinal problems
  • be rich in specific nutrients, such as omega 3, prebiotics, probiotics, and vitamins
  • be made of whole or skimmed milk
  • have a particular formula for allergic babies
  • be 100% organic, so even cows and goats eat healthy grass

Parents have several choices at their disposal, so it is easy to raise a child without colics, allergies, bloating, frequent belching, or regurgitation.

What is the Difference Between American and European Formulas?

American and European baby food companies try to reproduce natural breast milk in their formulas, and both countries follow safety standards, so the difference is not so vivid.

How to Get the Best European Baby Formula Brands?

Germany is famous for its baby food, so no wonder its products are top on most review sites. HiPP, Holle, Lebenswert, Jovie, Kendamil, and Löwenzahn Organics are top popular among European and American customers. HiPP is the most chosen one because it has many formulas, including Comfort, Anti-reflux, Bio Combiotic, Hypoallergenic, and five stages (1+ is for over 12-year-old kids, and 2+ is for 24-months-old kids).

Where to buy HiPP formula?  Most stores don’t order them because of the law. Organic’s Best is a reliable online store that guarantees top quality and appropriate delivery conditions to US homes.

Supporting A Loved One With Hearing Loss

Hearing Loss

How do relationships last decades? Attraction? That’s true. I don’t mean superficial attraction, but the kind that makes you feel like you can’t live without someone. Patience is crucial. Even if our partner drives us crazy, we must be patient. Relationships take time, care, and attention to grow. Acceptance is also important. We must accept people as they are. If you wait for someone to slowly become your dream partner, you’re doing them and yourself a disservice. Communication is key to maintaining a relationship.

Disrupting communication can strain a relationship. You may think ignorance, apathy, or emotional laziness are the only communication barriers in a relationship, but hearing loss can take a toll over time. Many assume they’ll experience hearing loss later in life, but many young people do as well.

For more on this topic, check out the full Tough Times collection

The Frustrations Of Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can cause frustration, miscommunication, and arguments in relationships. It makes you feel ignored and unimportant. You may know that the communication barrier isn’t your partner’s fault, but this doesn’t help.

You can’t ignore these feelings. They’ll skew, fester, and poison the relationship. Here are some ways to educate yourself, show empathy, and support others.

Live A Day Like Them

Relationships require empathy. When our own hearing is perfect, it’s hard to empathize with someone who hasn’t. Hard-of-hearing people can take up to 5 seconds to process a simple “yes or no” question, which seems like an eternity to someone with perfect hearing. Spend a day with them to understand their condition. Try your day with headphones or earplugs. You’ll hear muffled and distorted sounds and feel their daily struggles. The next time you’re frustrated with them, remember this experience.

Don’t Feel Bad For Feeling Frustrated

It’s important to avoid self-blame when frustrated. You’re human, so your partner must also empathize with you. Obviously, you shouldn’t say this when you’re angry. Discuss your frustration with your partner and work together to reduce miscommunication and frustration. Remind your partner that you’re frustrated by the situation, not them when you get angry.

Be Realistic

Whatever the cause of someone’s hearing loss, treatment can make their lives (and yours) easier. Hard-of-hearing people can empower themselves with hearing aids. Only 1 in 4 hearing-impaired people wear one.

Many find adapting to a hearing aid difficult. Signia hearing aids and their ilk feature advanced digital technology. Adjusting to life with a hearing aid takes time as the wearer is getting used to the new sensory information and the brain learns to fully process it as sound. While you owe it to your partner to help them get treatment, you and they should keep expectations realistic to avoid further frustration.

Avoid Isolation

Hearing loss can isolate. Imagine living underwater and struggling to communicate. Your partner may become quieter and more withdrawn as their hearing deteriorates. You may also notice that they’re sadder and sullen but unwilling to discuss it. As a vital part of their support network, it’s up to you to help them mitigate the effects of their hearing loss on their mental health and encourage them to seek treatment for both conditions.

Communicate Well

Many couples shout up and down stairs, through walls, and from different rooms. You and your partner can’t do this. Ensure clear, face-to-face communication. This helps your partner hear what you’re saying and pick up on body language and facial expression, which make up 93% of communication. Have a look at some hearing loss communication tips to help.

By putting the right structure in place, you and your partner can ensure a loving, supportive relationship and overcome their hearing problem together.

What to Expect When Visiting a Therapist for Your Mental Health

October 5, 2022

What to Expect When Visiting a Therapist for Your Mental Health

When considering a visit to a therapist, it is essential to know what to expect. There are many different types of therapy, and each therapist may have their own approach. However, there are some general things that you can expect when visiting a therapist. This article will discuss the different types of therapy, what to expect during your first visit, and how to find the right therapist for you!

For more on this topic, check out the full Mental Health collection

Different Types of Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a type of therapy that focuses on changing negative thought patterns to improve mood and behavior. This type of therapy can help treat depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of therapy that focuses on helping people cope with difficult emotions. This type of therapy can help treat conditions such as borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on exploring the unconscious mind. This type of therapy can help treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

During your first visit to a therapist, they will likely ask you many questions. For example, they may ask about your family history, your mental health history, and your current symptoms. It is important to be honest with your therapist so that they can help you in the best way possible. You will likely be asked to complete some paperwork during your first visit. This paperwork is important for the therapist to get to know you better and understand your goals for therapy.

How to Find the Right Therapist

Consider the type of therapy you need:

As mentioned before, there are many different types of therapy. Consider what type of therapy would be best for you based on your mental health condition.

If you are struggling with depression, CBT may be a good option for you. When diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, DBT may be a good option for you. If you want to explore your unconscious mind, psychodynamic therapy may be a good option for you.

Beware of “Red Flags”

When searching for a therapist, be sure to watch out for “red flags.” These are warning signs that the therapist may not be a good fit for you. Some red flags include:

– The therapist does not have experience treating your mental health condition.

– They do not have a license to practice in your state.

– The therapist is not willing to answer any of your questions.

If you see any of these red flags, you must keep looking for a different therapist. If you are not diagnosed correctly, you can undergo a personal injury. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional pain and suffering. If you ever experience this sort of treatment, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a personal injury lawyer.

Ask for Recommendations

If you are having trouble finding a therapist, ask for recommendations from your doctor, friends, or family. They may know of someone who is a good fit for you. You can also search online directories such as the American Psychological Association (APA) to find a list of therapists in your area.

Therapy can be a great way to improve your mental health. However, be sure to consider the different types of therapy, what to expect during your first visit, and how to find the right therapist for you!

Below are some handy, easy recipes to help you get started.

Peanut butter banana oatmeal

Oats are rich in vitamins and minerals, while peanut butter is rich in potassium. Combining both to make a peanut butter banana oatmeal will be a wholesome treat your kids are sure to love. All you need is rolled oats, bananas, cinnamon, sea salt, water, and peanut butter. After combining all these ingredients, you can add water and let your kids take turns stirring. Remember to let them wear protective clothing and keep your heat as low as possible to prevent any burns or spills.

After about eight minutes, when the oatmeal is almost ready, you can allow your kids to add the peanut butter and stir once again until it’s evenly mixed. You can also drizzle honey on top for an extra touch, and then you and your kids can dig in.

White cheddar mac and cheese

Another great and easy recipe for kids is the white cheddar Mac with cheese, a childhood favorite. All your kids will need to get started is a pack of small pasta shells, butter, all-purpose flour, onion powder, pepper, salt, milk, and shredded white cheddar cheese. You can then take out a pan for your kids to boil the pasta and let it cool, after which they can add the other ingredients. The shredded white cheddar cheese is always the icing on the cake, and you can let your kids have fun with it by sprinkling it on top of the pasta.

Rainbow fruit salad

You can help your kids learn how to prepare the colorful, delicious rainbow fruit salad for brunch using your kids’ favorite fruits. You can explore various options like blueberries, pineapple, kiwi raspberries, and strawberries. A combination of these fruits plus others makes your fruit salad loaded with nutritious fruits that your kids will enjoy.

You can let your kids start by rinsing the fruits in cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. You can then guide them to chop the fruits into equal sizes and put them in different bowls. It’s best to use equal portions of each fruit to avoid having a lot of one kind of fruit and a few of the others. Afterwards, you can arrange the chopped fruits together in a big bowl and later enjoy it chilled. You can enjoy your rainbow fruit salad over ice cream with your kids.

Sweet potato casserole

This simple recipe is delicious and easy to make, making it an ideal choice for your kids. For starters, you’ll need some large sweet potatoes, white and brown sugar, ground cinnamon, butter, and miniature marshmallows. As your kids wash and peel the potatoes, you can cut them into chunks and bring them to a boil. While you do this, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease your deep casserole dish. Be careful with these types of steps. You can then let your kids test their physical skills by mashing the boiled potatoes until there are no noticeable lumps. Once done, add your butter, cinnamon, and sugar, stir it thoroughly, and pour it into the casserole dish you prepared earlier. Add a layer of little marshmallows on top and bake for about 20 minutes until it turns brown. Your kids can enjoy this easy sweet potato casserole as a dessert right after meals.

With the above points, you could have your kids learn easy recipes. Who knows, they could become the next greatest chef! Don’t forget to take lots of photos and videos so you can treasure the memories of cooking together.
